I love finding errors in my blog posts from months ago…they’re so small. Like putting “write” instead of “right” because I’m writing.
A new record store just opened up in the mall. They have a Star Wars record player. It would go so well with my DVD collection, mug, t-shirt and…anyway, too bad I already have one collecting dust in my basement. I considered buying my Dad one of the Beach Boys albums for Fathers Day…until a little voice in the back of my head said, “He probably has this one.” because I knew all the songs.
I asked, he has it. I guess it would’ve been a cheap gift anyway, I mean…it was $9.00. Or it may have actually been $19.00 and the one just didn’t print on the little sticker. I noticed that with a few of the other CDs.
I know that most people don’t bother buying music anymore (I just use a YouTube playlist) but there’s this…feeling of joy you get when you get a new CD, with songs you know and songs that you’ve never even heard of. The moment it starts to play, it’s like you’re inside of a movie. Every song tells a story, and you can get lost for hours just listening to them over and over. The little booklets that come along with it, with the lyrics and pictures, and all of the album art add to the feeling. It’s another world. Or…maybe it’s just me.
Well, it’s 7 am now. I’d better get myself registered for my courses. I don’t want them filling up on me now.
Today is a very special day, for starters it’s my sister’s birthday. She’s 19 now, and officially allowed to go to clubs and casinos. Though I’ve told her…I really don’t think she should try gambling.
It is also the 4th Anniversary of this blog! I can’t believe it’s already been this long.
I also don’t know why I’m awake so early…I’m just waiting till 7 am so I can register for my courses. Apparently I can’t register at 5 in the morning.

Happy Birthday Sis.
Hope you enjoy your gift.
The illustrations are coming along nicely. We’re aiming to have them all complete by the end of the month.
In the meantime we’re thinking about our marketing strategies. Creating a business plan can be a lot of work, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s better to know what you’re going to spend, and how much you plan on making on your return. Everything needs to be taken into consideration. I was lucky enough to come across someone who could provide me with a template to work off of. I’m also lucky as my Dad has a copy of the business plan he made up years ago. It made it a lot easier when trying to format everything and work out the numbers.
I know that it may seem like a pain in the butt to do, but it’s something that you should be doing. Writing is a business, where one can be their own boss. The reason why some people fail when they’re self-employed is because they skipped the planning process and decided to jump into something without calculating the risks.
Anyway, enough business talk. I’m going to try to prepare some breakfast…although I’m a little unsure as to what I want to eat today.
Till next time,
Ness has agreed to do the illustrations for my book! She’s done a great job so far at capturing the story through images. We modelled the character after our niece, who inspired the story.
We don’t have a set release date for the book yet, however we plan on having it ready for publishing in the next few weeks.

This weekend I went on a trip with my sister and met up with a few of our friends. While in the city, I took the opportunity to also meet up with people who were working in a business I’ve been interested in getting into for years (apart from writing). They not only gave me great insight on how the business works but also hooked me up with contacts in the area who could help me reach my goals.
I’m so glad that I decided to go out of my comfort zone and meet these people. I almost chickened out, and I knew that if I did I would regret it.
I can’t believe that after having two days straight of work, work, work…all I’ve done today is make French Toast and watch videos.
I actually have plans. I have things to do. Where did the time go? It’s 3 o’clock already! I need to get to work!
I just wanna sleep. My throats still bugging me…I really hope I don’t have a cold. Yesterday my headache was so bad, I don’t know how I went from 6 am to 10 pm. Welcome to the world of, working two jobs. I actually got offered a third today. I had to turn it down. It was good money too…like…more than I’m making at my new job and my new job pays me a couple of cents more than my old one. Like…they were gonna give me a whole $2 more! Oh well…there’s always next summer. I can’t afford to quit my old job because of school fees.
I like it…I do…but the stress last year nearly pushed me over the edge. I’m so glad 2016 is gone. 2017 has been really good to me.
Hopefully this year I’ll be able to achieve some of my goals. There are things that I really want to do, and I’m seriously putting in the work. Soon, my parents won’t be able say, “You’ve been talking about this book for the last 10 years! Publish something!” because I’ll have published. Yep. Then I can go, “IN YOUR FACE!” like I used to when I beat my sister in Mario Kart.
Yah…I stopped saying it because after that she beat the game backwards. Betcha didn’t know that you could play the levels backwards. She got all gold too. Never mess with Ness.
Ha…that should be on a t-shirt.
I managed to get a bunch of editing done this morning. I’ll probably pick up where I left off in a couple of minutes. I don’t like stopping in the middle of a chapter. There are some spots that I definitely want to revisit and revise. I think that there’s a lot of room for improvement in these scenes…and that there were points where I could have added more description or context. This section has just seemed weak. I don’t know if it’s because it was written three years ago and my style has changed a bit, or because I was being lazy when I wrote it. It definitely needs to be added to. At the moment nothing needs to be taken out, which is nice but it isn’t giving off the impact I was hoping for. I’m sure I can fix it up and get it just right. It’s not horrible it just isn’t…what I want yet.
Other than that, the previous scenes were perfect. I managed to add in a scene which is working very well with the rest of the text. I’m happy with it.
The other day I was playing around on my laptop, doing mock covers for the book. I already have a design, but I thought I’d just make one for fun using the colour scheme and everything that I decided on. It’s not bad…but I gotta say it’s amateur.
Well, I’d better get back to work.
Wish I could be there to support you in your time of need. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family right now.
Your friend, 7up.
