Lots of Updates!

Tonight I’ll be seeing an author read a bit of his book. I’ve never been to one of these events before so I’m pretty excited. I’ll try to blog about it when I get home tonight but it really depends on how I’m feeling when I get home. I’ve been running around all day so I might just want to go to bed. Actually I currently want to go to bed, but because I need go out for the…what third time today? I guess I should just chill.

In other news, my classes have been excellent so far. Although I’ve only had about one of each class. It’s still been a lot of fun. I’m meeting new people, seeing familiar faces here and there. I’m going to make good memories this year. That’s my goal.

Writing wise I have a lot to do for school. I’m in a creative writing course so I’ll probably share some of the things I’ve written on here (once they’ve been marked and everything…since I use a pen name online). I realized when I moved into my apartment that I had left a chuck of my writing material at home and had only remembered to bring the two binders I had…. which kind of sucks but I’ll get them next time I’m home…or just scan them onto my computer somehow. Oh wait…I took the scanner. I can’t scan them. Well then…this will take some serious planning.

Overall my first week and a bit back at school has been excellent and I’m working to get out there and make memories. Also my apartment is really nice. I realized I’ve been here for almost three weeks…but it only feels like I’ve been here a week. I thought today was the 13th of September, but it turns out that it’s actually the 15th…according to my phone and laptop. This is why I need to put up my calendar. So I can keep track of things. At least I know what day of the week it is.

Hope everyone else is enjoy summers (probably short) comeback. I sure arm. The sun is nice. The sun is out friend. Don’t complain about the nice weather. Thank God it’s not snowing yet and when it snows, don’t complain because at least it’s not over 60 something degree’s (that’s 140 in farenheit…I Googled that for my American followers. I got you. 😛 ). Just embrace the weather…because whether or not you like it (haha see what I did there?), the weather is going to do what it wants. The weather is its own master. Unless you know…this is Sims and you used your Lifetime rewards to buy the weather changing machine.

Okay I’m going to stop talking now and eat cookies…and possibly spoil my dinner.

Enjoy your week!

Blabbering

The school year is grimly inching towards us–especially for those of us who have to pay for the own bills now– and I’m trying to psychologically prepare myself before I move into my first apartment…with actual roommates that I barely know.

It’s just weird. Like…whoa. I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like. It’s one of those things you just have to experience.

Like kissing. You’ll never know until you’ve kissed someone.

I still don’t know…unless being kissed by my three-year old niece counts? Maybe I’ll save my first kiss till marriage? That sounds like a challenge. I could probably do it too. I’m not a huge fan of physical affection.

Anyway! Back to whatever it was I was blabbering about. Oh yah, apartment.

So I don’t know what I need to live in my apartment other than food. Food is required for survival. Ha, ha…okay honestly, I don’t know if there is anything I need to purchase beforehand? I’m sure my parents have some idea of what I need but I don’t got a single clue Scooby Doo.

I just hope that this year I can master making friends and that I get along well with my roommates. I think that my job has seriously helped me overcome my shyness. In the past I’ve always had a hard time approaching people but now I seem to be able to make small talk with people who I barely know. I hope that I can apply this outside of my work environment. I’ve always wished I could become more social. Last year I was extremely lonely…like extremely. That is no way to spend your first year away from home. I had a lot of friends the first month of school and then they all got busy…or just didn’t care to get together after orientation week (oh well). At least I’m someone who enjoys being alone. Although it made it extremely hard for me to work on my novel because I was feeling unmotivated due to my lack of social interaction. This year my goal is to make some really good friends. I wanna meet cool, fun, smart people. People who like to be themselves and won’t judge me because I have cartoon characters on my socks… and who won’t assume I’m an otaku because I like manga and anime. My best friend growing up is from Japan. He lives in Japan. He got me stuff from Japan. I got into anime. I picked up a few words. That’s it. I’m not an otaku. I know that being an otaku is an insult. I ain’t stupid.

I don’t know why I went on about that. This post is pretty random. I’ll end things here just to prevent anymore weirdness.

Alright, bye for now!

P.S I know that blabbering isn’t a word but it totally should be.

Too Much Junk Food…. :(

So…my sister and I decided to go to the corner store. I spent more than I should in sweets…and now my stomachs feeling a little uneasy. I was going to try catching up on my writing today but because of my allergy medication I’m feeling really drained. It sucks…but next week I’ve got lots of time to work on whatever it is I like.

I hope my mom puts a lot of vegetables in our dinner tonight…I honestly feel like grabbing a bunch of fruits and tossing myself a salad. I don’t need dressing or meat or anything…just raw vegetables.

I also wanna exercise but my stomach feels weird. Why did I think this was a good idea? Why?

Writing Tip: Keep Your Mind Healthy

I know this might seem like a weird tip but it’s one that is often overlooked, and it’s of great importance.

When a person’s mind is healthy they’re able to think clearly and they can produce wonderful ideas.

Ones mental health is just as important as their physical health, although the media tends to put more stress onto how we look. Your mental health can have an effect on the quality of your writing.

Some simple things that you can do to keep your mind healthy are,

  1. Getting enough sleep: this can be 8 hours, it can be 10 hours. It’s all up to you and how your body feels. Just remember that too much sleep is just as bad as getting too little sleep. It’s important to have balance.
  2. Exercise: Yep…I’m sure most of you saw this one coming. I myself need to get up and go for a nice run. Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. You can simply go for a walk (maybe circle your local mall a few times), or go for a swim. Try skipping or go for a quick ride on your bike. Think of it as recess. Go get some fresh air and do something that is active and enjoyable. Exercise helps to relieve stress and it is good for both your mind and body.
  3. Eat the Right Stuff: We’re all guilty of giving into our cravings once in a while…or all the time but as I said it’s important to have balance. If there are fruits and vegetables that you like, purchase those and try to have them with at least two of your meals for the day. This is something that I am working on myself and I have to say, when I eat well I feel a whole lot better. It doesn’t have to be hard. If you like tomatoes, add a tomato to your sandwich. If you like to eat oranges, have one with your breakfast in the morning. Put some strawberries or cherries on top of your ice cream sundae. It’s as simple as that.
  4. Be Social: Interacting with others, whether that be people or animals, is extremely important. I find that if I don’t talk to anyone for sometime I get a bit lonely, and it makes it harder for me to put a lot of work into anything. The conversations we have with others can help with our writing. Sometimes it can spark ideas inside of us and other times it can remind us of what dialogue should sound like. Dialogue should be written how we speak. If you listen to the way that others talk, then you’ll have an easier time trying to recreate that speech within your text.

It’s nice to have a six-pack but always remember that you should love your mind and you should cherish it. Take care of yourself inside and out and your thoughts will flow onto the page smoothly.

Oh and for those of you who get writers block, doing this stuff can seriously help. It’s better than sitting around moping for twenty-four hours trying to force something out.

SCHOOL IS DONE! :D

I am officially finished my first year of university! Woo hoo! I made it! I feel really good about my exams and I’m glad that I’m finally able to go home and stay there for some time.

Don’t get my wrong I love this campus and everything but residence life isn’t really for me. The rooms are really dull, it’s hard writing in a room like this. When I go home I’ll write and write and write and write. I love writing. I love it. I really love it. I treated myself to a delicious lunch and everything! Today has been fantastic! I’m so happy feel like busting out my moves and blasting music super loud…but instead I’m going to be respectful of others and just treat myself to a delicious lunch.

It snowed today. It was so cold going to my exam this morning…earlier exams and snow are not a good idea. Least it woke me up a little more.

Salad tastes so good. Seriously…it’s delicious. I love cucumbers and tomatoes and lecture. It was like all my favourite vegetables in one place! Plus they’re on my sandwich! Woo! BLT! I love bacon!

Yep…bacon.

My meal was totally healthy until I remembered the mountain dew, the chocolate bar and the BLT. The salad was so yummy though…ahh…best meal I’ve had at this school.

Seriously…stir fry and salad are my favourite things to eat here.

Well I gotta get eating so that I can start sweeping my floor and packing up my bedding. I am so happy I kept my winter jacket here…I’m a smart cookie. Well at least that’s what my nana says. I love my nana she’s so sweet. She makes me smile. I love my family…I’m so happy. I get to go home and see my folks and actually stay longer than a day!

I Ate a Cupcake at 12 pm.

I had a mini cupcake at 12 pm and now I can’t seem to stop my eyes from going all big and sunshiny like a kid who just had a huge pixy stick (my parents don’t let me have a lot of sugar).

Oh boy…I need to sleep. I gotta get up early tomorrow for class. All these cupcakes and gold fish. At least I drank water.

I don’t even know why I’m blogging about this anyways. I mean seriously? Does anyone actually care about what I eat? I’m not exactly a food blogger…

I had samosa’s for breakfast this morning…I love samosa’s.

I cant see what I’m trying ….typing anymore…because my screens not scrolling. So I’m gonna end the blog here and pray that there aren’t any insane spelling errors that’ll make me cring later…I can’t remember how to spell cring….I think I spelt it wrong twice…omg…I just used an abbreviation…someone emske it stop please just make it stop……I’m gonna click publish….and see what this looks like….

is anyone else having this issue?

HA…It’s working properly now. See! I can see! 😀 Okay bye folks…I’ll be back when the computer doesn’t confuzzle my cupcaked sleepy brain. It had blue icing by the way…and the sprinkles taste really gooooooood.

I KNEW CRINGE WAS SPELT WITH AN E!!!!!!!!!!!

…time for Ryder to go to bed now…yesh it is time…. I’m gonna probably look at this later and be like, “Bro…what is wrong with you?” but OH WELL! It’s something to laugh at.

Exams, Writing, University Life

I passed all of my exams. I’m so happy. I mean I wish I got an amazing mark in every class but a great mark is fine to. I’m not complaining. I wasn’t sure what to expect during my first semester of university and now that I know how I did I’m pumped for my first day of classes tomorrow.

I’ve set some more goals for myself now that I’ve come into my second semester and my number one goal is to make friends. Not that I didn’t meet a lot of cool people last semester, but I guess I was a little anti-social for the first two months and then I realized everyone had paired up. That tends to happen when you’re a bit shy, so now with these new classes and clubs starting up again I’m hoping that I’ll be able to bond with people a little better. I guess I just needed to get adjusted before I could break out of my shell.

Well since I did well last semester I think I’ll treat myself with something really delicious for dinner…whatever that might be. If I’m lucky the staff cooked something good.

I also need to treat myself to a couple of sit-ups.

I know that I haven’t posted any writing updates lately but I can assure you that I have continued to do a lot of research for my novel, and I’ve been doing a lot of…I guess I can call it character design. I also like to draw so I’ve made some sketches of my characters. I’ll probably show them once the book is complete though, but I hate when you don’t get to imagine the characters for yourself. I’ve never done this much planning for a novel before so I’m really pumped. I was going to write some more over the break but I was writing some YouTube videos and seeing family. Excuses, excuses. I’ll be back into the swing of things once I’ve got a little bit more information for my current point in the story.

Stay tuned! I promise to have an actual writing related update soon.

Back to School Again

Well it looks like my breaks over. It’s a little sad because I was having a great time spending time with my family but I’m pumped about starting a new semester. I’m hoping that I’ll meet more cool people this semester and continue to do well in each of my courses.

I’m really going to miss lying in my bed every morning, staring through the slits in my blinds to see the sky change from orange to blue. I do this all the time, and I find it relaxing. I can still do it here at school but my bed at home is more comfortable. I do get a great view from my window at school though. This place looks like Narnia right now compared to where I live. We’ve got warning signs up about falling ice. I wish I had skates to wear that fit me but because my folks and I broke our tradition of going skating every winter while we were on break I outgrew mine years ago and ended up not getting a new pair. I didn’t go tobogganing this year either…but my toboggan’s a little small and there wasn’t any snow.

Well I’m almost settled in again. Once I get my bedding back on I’ll be all set. I mean I still have to put my clothes away but I’ll do that after my beds made.

Hope that everyone had a good break and happy blogging!

Why I Watch Kids Movies During Exam Time

Watching movies may not sound like the most productive thing you could do while you have several exams to prepare for. You’ve got to review everything you know about Tap Water before you can even think about going anywhere more than 2 seconds from your room.

Sleeping, eating, drinking, social interaction; these things that we need in order to survive no longer matter.

The only thing we care about is passing so that we can move on with our lives and never have to think about the complexity that is Tap Water again.

So why on earth would I watch movies during a time where my main focus should be on learning everything I need to know for the exam? The answer, though it may not seem like it, is very simple. Watching movies, specifically kids movies allows me to relieve stress. After being awake between 8am and 3am for almost two weeks, with one meal a day and little to no social interaction outside of the classroom, I decided while in my zombie-like state that I wanted to watch something…specifically something that would make me laugh, and so I began watching shows.

When I reacted the final of each of the shows I was watching/catching up on, I realized that the shows were themselves stressful to watch as some of the episodes would leave me near tears due to some of the subject matter.

Then I decided, “I will watch a movie I haven’t seen in years!” and started searching up all of these kids movies that I hadn’t seen since I was maybe…well whenever I last saw them. A lot of the movies that I like came out around the time I was born, which makes sense now because my mother would say that I looked like a character from one of those films when I was maybe 5 or 6?

Ever since I began watching these happily ever after, funny, annoyingly corny movies, I’ve been in good spirits about writing my exams and I also ended up forgetting how incredibly tired I was…or am. I’m still tired but I’m about to watch An American Tail 2. I’ve never seen this one, and my little sister and I used to sing that one song that Fievel and his sister Tanya sing when my sister got this doll, and it was the only doll of that kind that she owned…so we pretended her doll was waiting for her family to come to our imaginary toy land. Our stuffed monkey Zoboomafoo (r.i.p D’:), was like her caretaker and he’d carry her around the town and stuff…this is becoming a totally random slightly off topic thing. Anyways it was a great song and the movie was pretty cute. Plus I like history…so I know I’ll learn something from it. I’m Canadian so I’d rather watch A Canadian Tail but that doesn’t exist…and well, Canadian television is finally stepping up its game. I think it will be a while until we have another good film. Our documentaries are pretty great though. Yah…I seriously should just write for television so we’ll gain more popularity. I have so many scripts that my sister and I have made over the years and our friends really liked them. However I’m more of a novelist…who likes to use a pen name because I’m kind of shy and my mom recommended it even though she doesn’t know anything about writing…or really care about it all that much.

Okay my eyes are literally burning…and now they’re watering. I think I should watch my movie and go to bed right after.

I may be less active for a few days I may not…depends on how confident I am after tomorrow.

Good luck to those with exams…and just some friendly advice….don’t stay up until 3 am everyday with only one meal in your belly. It is painful…and you will end up eating very unhealthy in order to pretend you aren’t starving.

Oh and don’t tell yourself you’re fasting because like…you’re not, you’re just choosing not to eat because eating requires leaving your studies and you know that if you walk away you are not coming back until like the day before the exam okay?

My dad was right I do say like a lot.

I have a stomach ache.

Kraft Dinner

All week I craved the taste of Kraft Dinner…just one bite and I would be satisfied. Finally my chance came. After the three minute wait I opened the microwave, added the cheese, stirred and attempted to take a bite. Suddenly, I jerked the fork away from my mouth. My tongue! It burnt my tongue! Devastated I wandered back to my room, drinking water and blowing on the bowl of mac n’ cheese in hopes that it would soon be ready to devour. As the smell of cheese lingers in the air I wait. My stomach growls and still I wait in fear of being betrayed once again by my beloved meal.

I now understand why my niece puts her food in the fridge if its hot. She’s so smart…
